Saturday, May 12, 2007 Mother's rights vs. Foster parent's rightsI have friends who have taken in two little girls. The birth mother was on drugs and not able to care for the children. Subsequently her children were taken from her. The children were put in the care of foster parents. (my friends) Over the last year and a half the foster parents never having children of their own have taken the children in as their own. They have loved them and have been going through the process of adopting the children. Out of the blue, the mother says that she wants her children back. I guess my question is...who should have the right to the children? What should the rights of the birth mother be? I'll think about it and post again. In the mean time please pray that the best thing happens in this situation. <>< Monday, May 07, 2007 The American FlagI was just wondering what people think of around the world when they see the American flag. For many of us it is a symbol of liberty. I wonder...for others it may be a symbol of democracy; a symbol of consumerism perhaps. I've heard that people around the world pretty much despise America. I wonder if it would be appropriate open some line of communication or forum concerning what the american flag symbolizes to people. I believe that people view America even more negatively since all that has happened in Iraq. Perhaps such a forum could be a place of education and communication between those with different worldviews. Just thoughts... Does Scholarship Undermine Faith?I've posted a blog entry on this subject. You can visit the following link to the discussion page. Let's Market Jesus...(gosh, that title is just wrong isn't it?)How do we make Jesus marketable? One way is to draw comparisons between Jesus and other "saintly" leaders. For example. I may appeal to Jesus being just like Buddha in terms of their meditation and desire for peace and unity. I may also compare Jesus to Muhammed in terms of their submission to God. I can compare him to Ghandi in that they both shared a heart for the oppressed. There are many parallels that you can make. However, I fear that in doing so, we are in some way "humanizing" Jesus. While it is true that there are many parallels, lets focus rather on the uniqueness of Christ. He is like no other. He is the Son of God come to bring a broken creation into a right and eternal relationship with the creator God. Sunday, April 29, 2007 love...Love is the promise that I won't hurt. Love is when I have your feelings in my heart. Love is still believing there's hope in the storm. Love is when you're cold, and I hold you till we're warm.
What can I say, I've been overcome, Overcome, by your smile. You've made me fall apart. I fall apart... when I look into your eyes. I think I'm in love again. I think I'm in love again.
Another love gone into the past. Will there ever be one that lasts? Patience. Patience.
